Ethics and Misconduct Policy, Errata and Retraction
1 Interações (Campo Grande) is in agreement with the norms and recommendations for standards of ethics and responsibility in scientific communication established by national and international institutions, in accordance with:
Guide to Good Practices for Strengthening Ethics in Scientific Publication:
SciELO: https://www.scielo.br/
CNPq: https://www.gov.br/cnpq/pt-br
2 It is also dedicated to complying with good practices with regard to moral conduct in scientific journal publishing, based on the Cope code of conduct (Committee on Publication Ethics):
The responsibility of editors-in-chief
According to the rules set out in the SciELO Guide and followed by Interações (Campo Grande), transparency, prevention of negligence and quality control are essential qualities of the editorial process. The responsibilities of editors-in-chief include implementing the editorial policy, supervising the editorial process and the journal's relations with authors, referees, readers, indexers, research support agencies, the scientific community and the general public (SCIELO, 2018, p. 2).
The conduct of the researcher/author/coauthor
1 Interações (Campo Grande) follows the good practices for strengthening ethics in scientific publishing, according to SciElO (2018), and requires authors to proofread and accept responsibility for the content and record their contribution at the end of the manuscript. We use the plagiarism detection program https://my.plag.pt/myfiles#google_vignette in addition to the institutionally used tool Plagius.
2 Responsibility of Authors:
2.1 All authors must proofread the manuscript and demonstrably accept responsibility for the content prior to submission.
2.2 It is mandatory to record the contribution of each author at the end of the manuscript, according to their participation in the work.
3 Scientific Misconduct:
Scientific misconduct is defined as any behavior that violates the ethical standards accepted by the academic community.
4 Types of Serious Misconduct:
4.1 Data Fabrication: Creating data, procedures or results that have not been validly obtained or that are false.
4.2 Falsifying Data: Altering, omitting or distorting data, procedures or research results in a way that compromises the scientific merit of the study.
4.3 Plagiarism: Using the ideas, formulations or results of others without correctly crediting the original authors, whether in oral or written form.
5 Consequences of Misconduct:
5.1 The identification of scientific misconduct will result in the rejection of the manuscript.
5.2 Depending on the severity, it may result in additional sanctions, such as a ban on future submissions to the journal.
6 Editorial Responsibility
6.1 The editorial process includes rigorous evaluation of the ethical and methodological aspects of all submitted articles.
6.2 The editorial team is committed to guaranteeing the integrity and ethics of scientific publication.
These standards aim to ensure that all articles published in Interações (Campo Grande) maintain high ethical standards and contribute positively to the advancement of scientific knowledge.
Scientific misconduct should be measured by the degree of involvement in a clear intention of plagiarism, fraud or by the type of deviation from the practices accepted by the scientific academy. The serious misconduct considered to be most frequent is as follows:
- the fabrication of data, procedures or results in a modified form that have been obtained irregularly or falsely;
- falsification of data, procedures or research results, with inaccurate or incomplete information, in a way that damages the scientific merit of the research;
- plagiarism with formulations used in oral or written form, without crediting the authors.
The use of Artificial Intelligence software
According to the Guide to the use of Artificial Intelligence tools and resources in research communication on the SciELO Network:
- The use of tools and resources that assist authors in the preparation of their manuscripts is recommended provided that the rules of attribution are respected and that scientific ethics and integrity are complied with.
2 Authors have the right and freedom to use tools and resources that help them prepare, write, revise and translate their articles, book chapters or books. Many of these tools and resources are provided by AI applications.
3 Inform/mention the sources of the materials used in the research and writing of the article or chapter. Any use or content generated by an AI application must be reported in the abstract and in the methods section or equivalent.
Some mandatory rules must be followed:
Recommendations to referees
Reviewers have the responsibility of evaluating article manuscripts, book chapters or books fairly and objectively, with an emphasis on quality and originality. Experience and knowledge are fundamental in this process, supported by the use of different tools, such as plagiarism detection programs, statistical analysis software and academic search engines, among others. Many of these tools are provided by AI applications.
When the manuscript received is not a preprint, the referee should not submit the manuscript to services that could cause identities and contents to be leaked.
Just like editors, reviewers are called upon to deal with the effects of using AI content in the publication, when it is employed/used to carry out or generate analytical work, or to report the results (which the author is expected to indicate in the Abstract and Methods). In this sense, they must have training and access to up-to-date tools and resources to help detect AI-generated or altered content. In particular, referees are called upon to avoid misinformation, which can lead to adverse consequences and potential harm to people.
Conflict of Interest Policy
1 Definition of Conflict of Interest:
Conflict of interest refers to situations where personal, commercial, political, academic or financial interests may influence the judgment of authors, reviewers or editors in the preparation or evaluation of manuscripts.

2.2 This involves the disclosure of financial ties, institutional connections or any other relationship that may influence the impartiality of the work.
3 Peer Review and Conflicts of Interest:
3.1 Reviewers must declare in writing, through the journal's system, the absence of conflicts of interest when carrying out an evaluation.
3.2 Reviewers must also disclose to the editors any relationships or activities that could compromise their impartiality in reviewing the manuscript.
3.3 Reviewers should decline to review specific manuscripts if they identify potential for bias due to conflicts of interest.
4 Editorial Responsibility:
4.1 The editors are responsible for evaluating all declarations of conflicts of interest provided by authors and reviewers.
4.2 If a conflict of interest is identified that could compromise the integrity of the editorial process, appropriate measures will be taken, including the exclusion of the manuscript or the replacement of reviewers.
